Over the past week, the Commonwealth community of government, business and civil society convened in Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). An island state of just over 200,000 people, Samoa became the first Pacific Island nation to host the event. The Commonwealth Security & Resilience Group was delighted to join the celebrations and engagements. Through hosting CHOGM in the Pacific, and at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions, Samoa and the Commonwealth community could shine a spotlight on vital regional challenges - and seek new solutions to these. Only through tackling these enduring issues will nations and organisations develop the strategic resilience necessary for navigating new global risks. Our reflections on specific thematic dialogues will follow in the coming days, but as the wider Commonwealth begins to depart Samoa, we extend a huge thank you for the warmth, welcome and hospitality of the people and government of the country. Fa'afetai!
