Monday 10th March 2025, CWSRG joined celebrations at the Commonwealth Day Service, held at Westminster Abbey, and attended by His Majesty the King, Head of the Commonwealth, along with senior members of the British royal family.
Commonwealth Day is held annually to celebrate the values and connections of the Commonwealth. It offers a moment to reflect on the importance of Commonwealth networks and to reaffirm shared commitment to working across borders. Significantly, this year marked the first time the Group joined the celebrations as an official part of the Commonwealth family. For CWSRG the reflection point was, therefore, that much deeper. Against an ever increasingly uncertain and dangerous world, security and the need to build resilience have never been greater.
Across a raft of global challenges there is an opportunity to find new consensus and, crucially, new ways of tackling the problem. By working intimately with Commonwealth entities, whether that is the Member States, the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth organisations, or the Commonwealth's dynamic business community, we can tap into the leadership, innovation and expertise necessary to drive new solutions to old challenges, and to build resilience to future threats.
Commonwealth Day theme
This year’s Commonwealth Day theme, ‘Together We Thrive’, celebrates the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family – rooted in the principles of family, unity and peace.
The theme highlights the importance of fostering strong and connected communities that support and empower their members, enabling meaningful progress.
